There wasn't much to say about the birth of the first Reid daughter. She was born in a hospital, like so many are, to muggle parents Kelsey and Timothy Reid. The only notable thing about the baby was that she had already grown quite a bit of hair. Her baby pictures looked more like a baby that was a few months old, aside from the small size. There were no complications and were cleared to leave as soon as possible. Which was good, because despite the fact that Kelsey should have been on maternity leave, she had decided she could write just as well with a child than she could without. And Timothy was busy at the office. The two weren't wanting for money, but every bit helped when raising a child.

For the most part, Mackenzie didn't cry a whole lot. She was a baby, so there was the crying to be changed or fed, that sort of thing, but she was generally a pretty content baby. For the first few months her mother carried her around with her as she went to interview people. But then she got pregnant again and had to stop for a while. Their second child was born when Kenzie was one year old. Sometimes people joke that their mum liked Kenzie so much that she decided to have another right away. Who really knew if that was true? The fact of the matter was that Mackenzie had a new little sister, not that she knew what that meant at the time.

Mac had a pretty well adjusted childhood. There wasn't really anything to complain about. She began showing magical talent at a very young age, but her parents were muggles and wrote it off as just weird things happening around the house. Besides, they weren't very noticeable most of the time. If she wanted a toy, it would come to her. That was all there was to it. She was never a child that was very difficult to please, and a very self entertaining individual. When she was old enough she went to school, did her homework and talked to the kids her age. She fit right in, even if she was a little hesitant at first.

It was her eleventh year that changed everything. She got a letter from some strange school called Hogwarts and a visit from one of its teachers so they could explain to the Reids just what a magical school was all about. They were very skeptical about sending Mac at first, but the eventually decided to do so. Mac was scared to say the least. She was used to her friends at her muggle school and was now leaving them behind, telling them a big lie about having to attend a boarding school. She wanted to make the best of this change, but she couldn't quite shake her insecurity. It was a long first year. Sorted into Hufflepuff, it took a while for the first year to get adjusted. She was slow to make friends because of her shy nature. But when she did make them she was a quirky little girl who didn't mind making a fool of herself.

Her second year, and the years after, were much easier. Though she was still a shy girl, she was able to make some pretty good friends that she could be herself around. In her fourth year she found that she was attracted to females. There was no dramatic coming out or anything. She had heard that some people had to go through that, but her parents were completely fine with it, though they didn't quite understand how a fourteen year old could know that sort of thing already. She started dating, though there weren't very many girlfriends. She was still too shy to put herself out there, so she didn't really meet a lot of other girls who were into girls.

She took her OWLS in her fifth year just like everyone else. It was at this point that she decided that she wanted to work at the Ministry of Magic. She wanted to get into Wizard/Muggle Relations, which admittedly would take a lot of work since she was not outgoing in the slightest, and eventually make it to the Wizengamot. She's been working on that goal ever since.
